Week 2 Raw Journey
Heading into week 2 and wanted to give a summary of week 1. It went great, other than fighting flu like symptoms (which could be some detox) and being busy with a new job…I feel very ‘good’ so far. I lost 11.6 lbs week 1 and my mom lost about 4.5.
I am posting some pics below and will be adding some recipes soon! Follow my YouTube channel ‘rawlifeforus’ for vlogs.

1st Day of Raw Yesterday!
Yesterday was our first day and it was awesome. We don’t have the juicer or dehydrator yet, they are on their way….but we just couldn’t wait any longer.
I do have quite a few recipes, but yesterday we mostly ‘winged’ it with smoothies and a soup and everything so far has been excellent. I am prone to headaches and so is my mom, but I didn’t get one yesterday (anticipated one b/c of detox) and mom had a slight one in the morning so that was a nice surprise.
We took some before pics….they are pretty awful like most before pics so I will post them here and then I will post a couple pics of what we had yesterday. The only thing missing is the soup, but we will be making that one again soon. It was super addicting and it may have been a little better warm, but it was still awesome. I read on RFR where Penni heats her bowls to make the soup a little warmer, but mom didn’t get them warm enough. No biggie.
I also uploaded a Youtube video CLICK HERE!

Ok….don’t laugh…here goes.
Here is the breakfast smoothie and Dinner smoothie from Day 1 and this morning’s smoothie below that since I’m posting today. I just went out and met the UPS driver to get my juicer so yayayay! Green juice tomorrow.

RAW Journey: Video 1, Day 1 Kickoff
My retired mom and I started our raw journey today. I want to share it with you and also be Read the rest of this entry »
Now a Proud Member of RFR!
Yes, I was referred by Bill (‘rawfoodformylife’ on YouTube) to Raw Food Rehab. He started in November and on his 69th day was down 64 lbs. Unbelievable stuff, eating raw! It’s the obvious way to live, but not a lot of people are willing to dedicate themselves or give up things they ‘like’.
I can see why Bill loves this site, it’s got amazing information, recipes, videos, support and so far I’m hooked.
Mom and I are getting our grocery list made and we’re nearly ready! Today we did a final sweep through the cupboards and gave away the last of our stuff to relatives. The cupboards look bare now! lol Felt like we were moving. Sad part is how so much of the stuff expired years ago!!! One side perk will be that the oven and microwave will stay nice and clean now that they won’t be used!
Made a nice little hummus today to use up crackers and chick peas, was pretty yummy.
If you’re starting out or even if you’re not….go check out www.rawfoodrehab.com to get the information and support you need. Friend me too! just look me up -Michele Facini-. See you there!
Will be posting pics soon…want to take some close ups to see differences in skin and before weight shots. I will be posting progress videos on YouTube channel ‘rawlifeforus’ as well.
Buckle down, here we gooooooooo!
Raw Inspiration!
We have been watching a lot of videos and reading trying to get totally ready for our new beginning and we have come across a lot of people who are starting right now like we are…it’s never too late! People are on track to lose a pound a day and even up to 200 lbs. this year. It’s the simplest ‘diet’ out there and of course it’s not a diet…it’s a way of life. This isn’t temporary. It can be, but if you choose ‘life and health’…..it’s time to change your whole way of living for the better.
I just found this video and if this isn’t inspiration for you…..I don’t know what is. Enjoy!
Happy New Year, Bring on the Raw!
It’s taking longer than I thought to start the diet, but I am shooting for Feb. 1st. I just started a new job and money should allow it by then. I’m looking forward to new tastes, styles, and new ‘cooking’. Most of all, I am looking forward to feeling great and being healthy in this new year. 2011 is gonna rock!
Holiday Raw
I wish we were doing this holiday raw, but we will definitely will be next year!! I’m sorry for the delay in posting…been really busy the last couple of weeks!
We are buying our new juicer next week with Kohl’s cash we earned from xmas shopping for some other stuff. We are getting the Lalanne juicer for now. Here’s a photo.
Mom and I are going to start laying out our recipe plan soon and I’ll be sharing that as we go as well. I want this site to be informational for all of you who are starting raw! Just bear with me through the initial stages. Once we start this thing, I will have an abundance to share. Most likely we’ll start video blogging, because it’s a lot faster! Also, maybe you’ll see a difference in our complexions and weight as well so it’ll be a good reference.
Have a VERY Happy Holiday!!! Stay warm and stay safe! Until my next post….
Can I Buy That in Bulk?
So…I’ve been looking around and I found the best deal on raw macadamias on Ebay for 10.99 a pound (including shipping), 16.99 for 2 lbs. and 37.19 for 5 lbs. Macadamias appear to be used in many recipes.
I am still shopping around to find the best deals on powder Vitamin C, Nutritional Yeast, Kelp, Wheatgrass, and some of the superfoods.
I do realize this diet will be a little on the expensive side, but in the long run will save on health costs. Also, the longer you’re on the raw food, the less food you need to intake as your body accustoms to what it needs, rather than what it has had. A lot of cravings cease, because it’s not a natural occurrence that your body ‘craves’ sweets, for instance.
I will keep you posted as I find the best values on these ingredients, because I’m sure I’m not the only one starting this on a budget.

Appliances Oh Appliances….
Ok…so…like I said before, I am in the process of shopping for appliances I will need when we start Raw.
We already have a food processor (check) and a regular ol’ blender (check).
We will need a really good durable blender and the most recommended is the Vitamix blender which runs about $500! Whew!

I read some reviews and was glad to see that the Kitchenaid 560 is really durable and makes really great smoothies (which we will be doing a LOT). So, for now…this is the one we are going with. You can get it online for around 76.00.

The next shopping item is a dehydrator. I have one now, but half of it isn’t heating/drying properly so I need a new one. One with slide out drawers is recommended, but I haven’t decided on which I will buy yet. I will post that when I do. There are also a few small items that I will share in that post as well…
RAW Brownies-Yum
Sure can’t wait to try this recipe. I know, I know….it’s a little early to think of recipes just yet, but I’m trying to build my recipe box so that I can compose an accurate grocery list in the near future! Brownies are my favorite dessert and I am really ready to try these.
If you try them before me, I’d love to know what you think!
Enjoy!
